From June 22nd I joined Venezuelan trombonist Ángel Subero into his dream of recording a CD. It was my first time ever in Boston, and to come for a musical project of this sort was the best idea ever. Ángel wanted to record some Alban Berg, Schumman, among other very interesting pieces. The Boston Conservatory was always at hand when practice and rehearsal rooms where needed, and everything was perfectly organized. On June 26th, and after having spent the weekend over Tanglewood Music Center to enjoy the Boston Pops concerts and practice in a cabin in the woods, Ángel was asked to give a short recital at the Boston Conservatory, for the opening of the summer course. We played Bozza and Lebedev. On Thursday 29th we hit the road on our way to the studio! Our home for the next three days: Futura Productions. Futura is just the perfect place to record and they have everything one needs. Their music hall can fit from ensembles to a whole symphonic orchestra. On Day 1 we recorded «Sieben Frühe Lieder» by Alban Berg, on an edition for bass trombone and piano. The atmosphere this music creates is a magical, and the balance with the melody on the bass trombone works perfectly well.
